Terms of Service

Last updated: April 25, 2026

Welcome to Booklee. These Terms of Service ("Terms") cover how you use Booklee — our website, app, and the AI ghostwriting studio behind them. By signing up or using Booklee in any way, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If any of this doesn't sit right with you, please don't use the service.

1. Who can use Booklee

Booklee is built for adults who want to ship books. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account on your own. If you're between 13 and 16, a parent or legal guardian needs to set up the account and accept these Terms on your behalf. Under 13, you can't use Booklee at all — that line is firm.

By using Booklee you confirm that the information you give us is real, that you can legally enter a contract in your country, and that nothing prevents you from publishing the work you're writing here.

2. What Booklee is

Booklee is an AI-assisted writing studio for non-fiction authors. You bring an idea, a few notes, or a rough vision — Booklee interviews you, drafts a table of contents, writes the chapters, designs a cover and metadata, and exports a print-ready PDF and EPUB you can hand to Amazon KDP or any other distributor.

We do not guarantee approval on KDP, sales, royalties, search ranking, or that your book will find readers. Booklee is a tool that gives you a serious head start. The writing decisions, the editing pass, and the publishing call are yours.

We may add, remove, or rework features at any time. Some features are experimental and clearly labeled as such — they may break, change shape, or disappear without warning.

3. Plans, credits and billing

Booklee runs on a credit system. Generating a book consumes credits; light operations like rereading or browsing your library do not. Your plan grants a monthly bucket of credits that resets each billing cycle — unused credits do not roll over.

Current monthly tiers (subject to change):

  • Starter — $19/month, 25 credits per month
  • Standard — $49/month, 110 credits per month
  • Pro — $99/month, 325 credits per month
  • Unlimited — $199/month, uncapped credits with fair-use cap ~650/month

Annual plans, when offered, are billed once a year and grant the full year's credits up front.

Payments are processed by Stripe. You authorize us to charge your selected payment method on each renewal date until you cancel. If a charge fails, we'll retry and notify you; if it keeps failing, we'll pause your subscription and your unused monthly credits will not be available until billing is back on track.

Cancellations take effect at the end of the period you've already paid for — you keep access until then. We don't issue refunds for unused credits, partial periods, or books you regret generating after the fact. If you believe a charge was wrong (duplicate billing, fraud), email us within 30 days and we'll investigate.

4. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login safe. Don't share your password, don't let other people generate books from your seat, and turn on two-factor authentication if your sign-in provider supports it.

Anything that happens under your account — credits spent, books generated, content uploaded — is on you. If you spot anything you didn't do, tell us right away at support@booklee.ai so we can lock it down.

Spinning up multiple accounts to dodge credit limits, free trials or rate limits is not allowed and will get every related account suspended.

5. What you can't do here

Booklee is a creative tool, but creativity has limits. You agree not to use Booklee to:

  • Generate sexual content involving minors, or content that grooms, exploits, or endangers minors in any way — zero tolerance, instant termination, reported to authorities where applicable.
  • Write hate speech, threats, or content that targets a group based on race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or similar protected attribute.
  • Produce instructions for real-world violence, weapons of mass harm, self-harm encouragement, or evading law enforcement.
  • Plagiarize. Don't paste someone else's copyrighted work and ask Booklee to lightly rephrase it. Don't impersonate a real author's voice to mislead readers.
  • Bypass Amazon KDP's content guidelines (deceptive authorship, keyword stuffing, low-content spam, fake review programs).
  • Reverse-engineer Booklee, scrape it, run automated tools against it, or extract our system prompts and pipelines.
  • Resell raw Booklee output as a service of your own (a Booklee-clone). You can absolutely sell the books you write here — that's the whole point. You can't repackage the platform itself.

We may review generated content if our automated checks flag something, if a third party files a complaint, or if we have a good-faith reason to believe a violation occurred. We can remove content, suspend access, or terminate accounts for violations of this section without refund.

6. Your books, your rights

You own everything you create with Booklee — text, covers, illustrations, metadata, the whole package. You can publish, sell, translate, adapt or destroy your books however you like. We claim no royalty, no co-author credit, and no veto.

What you grant us in exchange is narrow and operational: the right to store your work on our infrastructure so we can render it, send it to you, and let you keep editing it; the right to process anonymized telemetry from generations to improve the system; and the right, only with your explicit prior consent, to feature your book in marketing.

We do not train third-party foundation models on your private content. Underlying providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.) handle your prompts under their own no-training data terms — we keep their commercial-tier agreements in place precisely for this.

You are responsible for the legal status of what you publish: copyright clearance on quotes you provide, trademark compliance, defamation risk, AI-disclosure requirements where local law or KDP requires them. Booklee gives you tools and guardrails; it does not give you legal cover.

7. AI output is a draft, not a verdict

Everything Booklee generates is a starting point. Models hallucinate, misattribute quotes, get dates wrong, and occasionally write something that sounds great but isn't true. If your book includes facts, statistics, biographical claims, medical advice, financial guidance, scriptural references, or anything someone might rely on — verify it before you publish.

If you publish Booklee output without review and a reader sues you, that's between you and the reader. We can't take that liability and we don't try to.

8. Service availability

We aim for Booklee to be up and fast, but we don't promise uptime. Outages happen — sometimes ours, sometimes our model providers, sometimes the broader internet. When something goes wrong, we work to fix it; we don't issue automatic credit refunds for short outages.

We may schedule maintenance windows, and we may turn off features that are unsafe, broken or no longer make sense for the product.

9. Changes to the service or these Terms

Software changes. These Terms will too. When we update them in a way that meaningfully affects your rights or obligations, we'll let you know by email and inside the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Smaller clarifications and typo fixes go in silently — the "Last updated" date at the top is the source of truth.

If you keep using Booklee after a change takes effect, you accept the new version. If you don't agree, cancel before that date.

10. Ending the relationship

You can leave at any time. Cancel from Settings → Plan & credits, or delete your account entirely from Settings → Permanent actions. Cancellation stops the next renewal; deletion wipes your data per the Privacy Policy.

We can suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, abuse the service, harm other users, or use Booklee in a way that creates legal or operational risk for us. In serious cases (illegal content, fraud, security threats) we'll act without notice. In ordinary cases we'll give you a heads-up first.

Some clauses survive termination — IP ownership, the disclaimers below, the liability cap, dispute resolution, and any payment obligations you've already incurred.

11. Disclaimers

Booklee is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We don't promise that the content you generate will be accurate, original, marketable, accepted by Amazon KDP, or that it will avoid copyright claims or negative reviews. The whole pipeline is a powerful assistant, not a guarantor.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Booklee and the people behind it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost royalties, lost data, lost time, business interruption, reputational harm, or KDP rejections — whether the claim is in contract, tort, or any other theory.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any and all claims arising from or related to Booklee is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the three months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow some of these limits. Where that's the case, the limits apply to the maximum extent permitted.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Booklee against any third-party claim arising from (i) content you generated or published using Booklee, (ii) your violation of these Terms, or (iii) your violation of someone else's rights — including IP, privacy and publicity rights. "Defend and indemnify" means: cover legal costs, settlement amounts and judgments, and let us run the defense if we choose to.

14. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing anything formal, contact us at support@booklee.ai — most things resolve in a single email.

If we can't resolve a dispute informally within 60 days, the dispute will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, with the seat of arbitration in Bexar County, Texas. You waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in any class action or representative proceeding. We can still go to court for emergency injunctive relief — for example, to stop ongoing abuse of the platform.

15. Miscellaneous

If a court finds any clause unenforceable, the rest of these Terms keeps its full force. Our failure to enforce a right today doesn't waive it tomorrow. You can't transfer your account or these Terms to someone else without our written permission; we can transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or restructuring. There's no third-party beneficiary here — these Terms are between you and Booklee.
